Environment Friendly Energy System and Sustainable Development of Adriatic Coastal Counties

In the last period a new approach to energy planning was applied in Croatia. It is based on the concept of regional energy planning, with the counties having the main role. Adriatic coastal counties represent the region with specific energy needs. Namely, their development is based on the economic branches of tourism and agriculture, vitally dependent on clean environment. The use of renewable energy sources on the Adriatic coast is considered a necessity and represents a fundamental condition for sustainable development. In this paper we propose the concept of renewable energy sources approach into the county's energy system development. This concept has been applied on the Split-Dalmatia County. Results will be presented in this paper.
