Analysis of annual energy demand for ventilation using a model based on hourly measured weather data
This paper analyses energy needs for conditioning of ventilating air. Calculation model has been developed enabling an estimation of annual energy demand for heating, humidification and cooling (with dehumidification) based on hourly measured weather data (outdoor temperature and relative humidity) and constant setpoint for supply air temperature and water vapour content. Calculations were conducted for two different processes carried out by air handling units differing in the type of air humidification system installed: steam or water humidifier. Both analysed systems are designed to provide 100 000 m3/h of supply air at the temperature of 18°C and water vapour content of 8 g/kg throughout the year at the location Zagreb, Croatia. Heat recovery system is installed in both units enabling sensible heat recovery. Calculations were made with various recovered heat coefficients following a comparison of monthly and annual energy needs for every component of the two mentioned systems, i.e. heating coil, cooling coil and humidifier. Obtained results were qualitatively compared with the values provided in the DIN V 18599-3 Prestandard.
