A Possible Project Management Methodology in Reconstruction of Old Buildings, which Represent Historical and Cultural Heritage

During the reconstruction of old buildings built at the beginning of the last century and even before, that represent historical and cultural heritage, project management has to front with a lot of various challenges which occur from the mentioned specificities of such buildings. In the course of managing such projects specific needs could arise, such as the participation of more parties that usually do not participate in the management process. Some of those parties are archives or specialized and certified designers and consultants. Other specific needs which could appear are the usage of old materials and special craftsmen who are trained in old material usage and reconstruction techniques. All of this requires a unique approach to the project management process. This paper will provide a step by step methodology in solving such problems and managing the whole reconstruction process. This methodology will define the necessary steps needed ; the participants and their roles ; the potential problems and solutions ; and the necessary tools and techniques used. It will show that the careful selection and consideration of the participants, techniques and tools involved is going to eliminate or at least reduce the chance of potential problems.
