Montana Co-ops Experience & Global Economic Impact of Cooperative Movement
The Cooperatives in Montana are defined as organizations that are owned and democratically controlled by the people who use their products, supplies and services. Cooperatives are formed to meet the specific interests of their members and they structured in a way to adapt to the changing needs of their members. American and international experiences hint us and confirmed how cooperatives are not resistant to financial difficulties, but their flexibility on market changes and inside trust make them economically most enduring business model that provides prosperity and progress for more than 150 years. At the present time of the economic crisis, the cooperative business model abides reducing poverty, ensuring generation employment and social integrations providing integral sustainable development. The long cooperative tradition and positive experiences from around the world must be taken seriously as an opportunity on which need to build future-modern Croatian Cooperative movement which is in “infancy” and whose time of affirmation is just coming.
