Economic mechanisms within the area of renewalbe energy sources in some European Countries
Due to its strategic role, energy contains political dimension both within the planning of energy development and in mutual relations within the energy market. Thus planning and use of energy regularly involves economic and political elements. In order to answer the challenges of climate changes, security of supply, and economic costs, all European countries have with no exception opted for the installation of plans of considerable growth in use of renewable energy sources into their energy development strategies, and for the implementation of economic mechanisms which will get the plans achieved. The purpose of the paper is to analyze the most important available details of economic and energy policies of some European countries, particularly of those with contact points with the Republic of Croatia either in historical-cultural heritage, in energy positioning regarding the available natural potentials defined by their geographical position, or in other relevant economic characteristics. The analyzed countries are stated as an example and the driving wheel representing the model to be aimed at, which should also be followed by Croatia. The authors came to the conclusion that the existing economic mechanisms, incentives for economic growth, and legal solutions of such activities should remain continually examined and improved in order for special conditions and particular help to be created by state institutions and both regional and local self- governments. In conclusion, the Government of the Republic of Croatia should continue examining the appropriateness of changes within the legal system in order to promote energy efficiency and use of renewable energy sources, and to implement models of countries which have demonstrated success in their incentive measures.
