Mycopopulation of cereals in Croatia
Barley samples (30 genotypes per year) were collected in 2010 (30 genotypes) and 2011 (5 genotypes) at five localities (Osijek, Tovarnik, Nova Gradiška, Slavonski Brod, Požega). Wheat samples were also collected in 2010 and 2011 year. In 2010 we collected 30 and in 2011 we collected 47 different genotype samples on location Karanac. Samples of sweet corn were collected in 2010 at locations Županja, Budrovci, Bogdanovci and Beravci. On each location we collected 6 samples. The grain infection with fungal species was determined after harvesting in laboratory using blotter method. For decontamination of selected cereal and corn samples we used following physical- chemical methods: 1. grains were rinsed with tap water (30 min) 2. grains were rinsed with tap water (30 min), than disinfected with 96% ethanol (30 sec.) and than two times washed in distilled water (1 min.) 3. grains were put in laminar flow cabinet under UV radiation (24 h) After decontamination fungal species were determined as previously described. Incidence of wheat and barley infection by Fusarium sp. depended of genotype susceptibility, location and applied disinfection method.
