Reasons for the Successful Mobilization of the Balkan States in the Balkan Wars

Mobilization of the allied countries in the Balkan wars was very good. Participating states were surprised by the number of people who appeared on mobilization. They came from all over the world to do their "sacred" duty to make war with the centuries-old enemy and liberate their Christian brothers. Memory of the powerful medieval states and the great defeat which they suffered from the Turks remained in the history of the Balkan peoples for centuries. The Ottoman Empire was the stereotypical enemy - the Turkish majority was of a different religion, the area that Empire held were considered occupied, stories about the sufferings of the Christian population were passed down through generations. Christian Reconquista of the territory conquered in the Middle Ages was emphasized in the calls for the mobilization made by Serbian King Peter, Tzar Ferdinand of Bulgaria and the Greek King George. In Bulgaria 220% occurred (compared to the invitees), in Serbia they have not been able to receive all because too many people showed up, in Montenegro the elderly and children "fled" to the army and in Greece more people occurred than was planned. All of that was diametrically opposite to the situation in the Ottoman Empire. Turkish Corps were deficient due to cholera, which devastated the Empire since 1910., so many recruits did not respond to the army and just before mobilization 120 000 Anatolians were discharged from the Army because they were tired of smothering Albanian insurgency. The enthusiasm of the population, due to a number of partial mobilizations for suppression of various rebellions and Tripolitan War, was very low.
