Mechanical properties of needlepunched and calendering nonwoven textile from polypropylene and polyester fibres
The samples investigated in this paper are nonwoven geotextiles manufactured by mechanical carding process and bonded by needling process, made from polypropylene and polyester fibres. Part of the samples made from polypropylene was additional bonded by thermal calendering process. Sampling was conducted according to the standard for geotextile sampling with certain modifications. Mass per unit area for all groups of samples is in the range between 200 and 500 g/m2. The total number of tested samples was 12. Investigated nonwoven geotextiles were tested for wide-width tensile test, static puncture test (CBR test) and dynamic perforation test (cone drop test). Conducted research shows influence of additional bonding with calendering and influence of different raw materials (polypropylene and polyester fibers) on mechanical properties of nonwoven textile.
