An analytical solution for displacements and stresses for mono symmetrical stiffend plate structures under transverse loads
In this paper an analytical approach to bending of thin-walled beams with one plane of symmetry is considered. The theory of bending of thin walled beams of open section with influence of shear, based on the classical Vlasov's theory of thin-walled beams of open cross-section is applied. The general transverse loads act in the beam plane of symmetry. The beam will be subjected to bending with influence of shear in its plane of symmetry and in addition (to the classical theory) to tension/compression due to shear. The obtained analytical expressions are used in the analysis of stresses and displacements of stiffened plate structures with mono symmetric cross-sections. Illustrative examples are given. Comparisons with the finite element method (FEM) are provided.
