Modern management in hotel industry of transitional countries
The long process of transition has marked all areas of social life in Croatia, and thus that of tourism. Hotel companies are transiting from social, socialistic self-management to capitalism and a market driven by capitalism. A hotel company as an economic factor on the turbulent tourism market aims at achieving quality of its hotel product and excellence in business and efficiency by means of modern management and managerial skills. The consequence of dominance of modern technologies in the placement of hotel product is a requirement for prompt and immediate response in all segments of the organization of hotel companies. A modern hotel management company establishes new communications, based on knowledge sharing and improving personal effectiveness. Becoming part of the transition process and transformation of ownership in the Croatian tourism industry evokes the need to implement modern management which will struggle for success in the fiercely competitive tourism market.
