The same but still different (Linear and non-linear routes through the text)
Supporting the idea of text as a site for interaction, the author uses one of the folk-tales to discuss matrix. Viewing the text from different perspectives, following either the structure of a happening or the structure of a variety of possible tellings based on the same happening, seems to enhance the interaction between reader and writer. Such an approach leads to constructively responsive reading focused on the autonomous reader. The matrix principle may also have serious implications to language learning/teaching, primarily aimed at the development of learner’s reading skill. Consequently, it becomes a contributory factor of his/her writing skill improvement. Applying matrices in reading is an open process, possibly challenging but rewarding for the reader/learner and reading/language teacher, as well.
