Belief networks in analyzing accidents
A belief network (also known as a Bayesian network or probabilistic causal network) captures believed relations (which may be uncertain, stochastic, or imprecise) between a set of variables which are relevant to some problem. Usage of the belief networks in analyzing accidents is discussed in the paper. Belief network represents expert system knowledge base, and the probabilistic inference results in a set of beliefs in each network node. Belief network programs are used with the accident database system in order to find connections and probabilities between the dana stored. The example regarding accidents in Republic of Croatia is shown.
