Analysis of safety levels for an intelligent automatic controlled vessel
This paper investigates a methodology for quantitative evaluation of safety for an intelligent automatic controlled vessel. The methodology provides a technical basis for establishing the target reliability for designing the safety critical components of an intelligent controlled vessel. The paper introduces Markovian model for an automatic controlled vessel. Four operating states are recognized: Cruise ,Partial maneuvering ability,Distress,Anchorage The vessel operation process can then be defined as a system, which evolves in time while undergoing state transitions. According to the state transition diagram the transition matrix and probability vector the mathematical description of Markovian model is introduced. Through this analysis the system safety and reliability is assessed. The reliability of vessel as system is defined and mathematically described, as well as mean time between failure factor.
