DETOXIFICATION OF WATER CONTAINING PHENOL BY CATALYTIC OXIDATION WITH AIR AND HYDROGEN PEROXIDE OVER Cu/13X CATALYST
In this work catalytic activity and stability of Cu/13X zeolite in PP CWAO of phenol was examined. Catalyst samples were prepared by ion exchange method of the protonic form of commercial zeolite. To increase stability of catalysts few samples were calcined at 1023 K. The catalysts were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), AAS, while the adsorption techniques were used for the measurement of the specific surface area. The catalytic tests were carried out in a stainless steel Parr reactor in batch operation mode at constant mass of catalyst (0.5 g) different temperatures (323-353 K) and different air pressure (2-20 bar). The initial concentration of phenol was 0.01 mol dm-3 while the concentration of hydrogen peroxide varies from 0.01 mol dm-3 to 0.14 mol dm-3. It was found that the PP CWAO process leads to higher pollutant removal conversions than the CWAO and CWPO processes. The results were influenced by the Ph: H2O2 : air molar ratio. A synergistic effect was found when H2O2 is combined with air which leads to higher mineralization of the phenol.
