Mass concentrations of major acidic species in PM10 particle fraction measured at two different sampling sites in Zagreb air, Croatia
This investigation focuses on the influence of the sampling site and the season of the year on mass concentrations and relative contribution of measured acidic species chlorides, nitrates, and sulphates to PM10 mass. Daily PM10 samples were taken continuously throughout 2011 at two sampling sites. Annual average PM10 mass concentrations were: 34.2 g m-3 at site A and 36.0 g m-3 at site B. The annual average mass concentrations of the investigated anions followed the order chloride < nitrate < sulphate at the both sites, respectively. Mass concentrations of the investigated pollutants were significantly influenced by the season, reaching their high values in the winter. We also observed significant correlations between mass concentrations of PM10 and investigated anions.
