The economic position of minorities in the Republic of Croatia
The paper deals with the economic position of minorities in the Republic of Croatia covering the time when Croatia was a component part of ex-Yugoslavia and recent situation in the independent state of Croatia. Showing the traditional settlement minority areas, the participation of minority members in the active working population and occupation groups as well as their qualification structure and the level of education, presented are basic elements of minority groups participation in economic and social changes in Croatia. The author concludes that most areas inhabited by autochtonous minority groups have undergone the changes of the function of space and socio-economic changes of the population structure. Spacial mobility, intensified by a dynmic attractive power of urban centres, has redefined their ethno-identification codes.
