Construction of Functional Protective Clothing

Clothing has a basic function of protecting the human body from external influences such as cold, humidity, UV radiation, etc. There are specific environmental conditions such as high heat, extreme cold, effect of flame, chemicals, microorganisms, static electricity, a variety of radiations etc., for which it is necessary to develop different systems of protection against injuries in this kind of an environment or against occupational illnesses and life-threatening injuries. An attempt to provide safe human activity using adequate clothing is a result introducing technical regulations and standards in compliance with the quality of protective clothing, comfortable wearing and adequate level of protection. A systematic approach during the production of protective clothing item starts from the appropriate choice of fibers, innovative techniques and technology of fabrics or knitting production and their treatment. It is important to know the materials of which the clothing is made, purpose of the clothing item, techniques of the joining materials, environmental impact, envisaged movements and the principles of ergonomics. Each item of clothing used for protective purposes should be individually accessed and provide functionality using construction methods. During the construction of protective clothing, other protective equipment (gloves, shoes, helmets, etc.) should be adjusted to provide adequate protection and undisturbed activity.
