Concept maps in computer-assisted knowledge assessment
Concept maps are a learning tool that has been successfully applied in the educational process for more than three decades now. Their original aim was to serve as a learning aid, offering a more efficient overview of the learning content and more successful integration of new knowledge to the learner’s schemata. Later, thanks to the popularization and increase in availability and applications of computers in learning and assessment they emerged into an efficient knowledge assessment tool as well. Concept maps are therefore today widely perceived and used not just as an e-learning but also e-assessment tool enabling assessment of knowledge as they explicitly unveil domain concepts and their relationships. It is the aim of this paper to provide an overview of most important aspects, practices and achievements in using of concept maps in computera-ssisted knowledge assessment.
