Verification of Number of Cycles for Fatique Life Estimation of Wind-Sensitive Structures
Fatigue life estimation can be carried out using representative service stress spectra. The fatigue strengths related to constant and variable stress amplitudes are given by Woehler and Gassner curve, respectively. Gassner curve depends on the spectrum of the service stresses N=f(Sa), which is determined by maximum value, shape and total number of cycles N0. It has been shown that the total cycle count can be accurately estimated using frequency parameters of the load record, thus enabling spectral analysis based on short- time in-field tests.
