Relevance of Financial Study Courses at University Center for Professional Studies in Split

Financial environment in Croatia has been very dynamic in last decades. Consequentially, Universities, at their Faculties of Economic or Departments for Economic studies, have to make some major changes in the content and quantity of financial courses. In the same time there is a very dynamic process going on in the field of unification of the Grading Scale for the European Universities, as a sub process of much wider frame called Bologna process. The ECTS Grading Scale has been developed in order to provide a common currency and facilitate for the transfer of students and their grades between European higher education institutions, by allowing the different national and local grading systems to be interchangeable. As a result of Bologna process all Universities in Croatia, ours too, have implemented ECTS Grading Scale. In this paper we would like to investigate adequacy of grades attributed to certain Financial Courses at our Department of Economic studies, examining students opinion of adequacy of ECTS value attributed to courses, and by comparing them with the ECTS Grading Scale for same or similar Financial courses executed in other European Universities. Also we hope to find out, from booth sources of information, students and foreign Universities, what useful Financial Courses do our University program misses. We have in plan to investigate the compatibility of following courses ; Payment System, Entrepreneurial Finances, Insurance, Elementary Finances and Stock Exchange Dealing. Survey will also serve us to find some guidelines that will help us design better Financial courses for our students.
