Amyand's hernia (case report).
We report a case of Amyand's hernia in a 63-year- old man. In hernias sac was adhereted inflammeted appendix and appendectomy was performed. The defect of the hernia was closed primarily. The postoperative course was uneventful. Emphasis is given to the rarity of the disease. Appendicitis within an Amyand's hernia is rare, and when it occurs it is usually misdiagnosed as strangulated inguinal hernia which also represents a surgical emergency. The proper treatment should involve appendectomy through the herniotomy with primary hernia repair without the use of any synthetic mesh.
