Natural regeneration of pedunculate oak in floodplain forests in Croatia is done with shelterwood fellings in three (preparatory, seedling and final) or in two cuts (seedling and final). In new-formed ecological conditions marked with forest dieback and decline, sites have to be prepared in order for natural regeneration to be successiful. Artificila regeneration is very similar to natural one, with the only difference that seeds or seedlings of pedunculate oak are brought into the site by man. Natural regeneration is successiful if about 40, 000 plants per ha are achieved. In artificial regeneration, about 800 kg per ha of seeds should be sown, about 500 kg mattock planted, or about 15, 000-20, 000 plants planted per hectare.
