Sphingolipids in Human Milk and Infant Formulas
The aim of the research swas to establish if there are diferences in sphingoid bases concentrations between human milk and infant formulas. The another aspect of the research was to ascertain whether there was any difference in the concentrations of gangliosides, sialoglycoproteins in human milk and infant formulas. In the human milk the concentrations of free sphinganine and sphingoine, gangliosides and sialoglycoproteins wew higher then in in infant formulas. The concentrations of total sphingosine and sphinganine were higher in human milk too but in several infant formulas were almost equal as in human milk. Such difference between human milk and infant formulas might have some biological significvance regarding neonatal brain development, allergies, infant growth and non-immunoglobulin prophylactzic activities against some bacterial toxins.
