Further Consideration about the Normal Approximation to the Binomial Distribution

This paper considers the errors arising at the normal approximation to the binomial distribution. The known conditions for such an approximation are particularly examined. The analysis is made for a certain number of parameters of random variable with binomial distribution X: B(n, *) which is approximated with a normal random variable Y: N (n*, n*(1-*)). The probability P(x1* X * x2) is compared to P(x1 * Y * x2) for several values of n and *, and a certain number of pairs (x1, x2) of the values of X. Two new criteria are recommended for an acceptable approximation.
