Internet : also the source of negative effects of learning
In both everyday and teaching oriented conversation, the concept of learning seems to be quite differently determined. With respect to its quality, it is mainly referred to with positive, but rarely with negative connotations. As learning is being determined also as a process of acquiring, memorizing and understanding of information, it is obvious that the Internet, along with several billions of diversified pieces of information, provides enormous possibilities for learning. Since learning is also being determined as the permanent changing of behaviour, Internet learning is certain to also result in negative effects in the personality development process. This paper attempts to find the answers to the questions whether we are supposed to accept the Internet at its face value as an educationally appropriate source of learning, whether computer literacy is sufficient for computer assisted learning, whether information and communication technology can replace school and teachers in learning and teaching, and if yes, to what extent, and finally, what is the teacher´s task in training an individual for using digital technologies in learning.
