Sažetak
Advantages of natural circulation instead of pumped circulation for ship’s cooling system are reduced capital costs, reduced maintenance, lower electrical loads, and less chance of mechanical failure. Large tankers, unlike ships of a higher speed, present a particular problem in the design of condenser cooling water systems. These ships are slow and the engine rooms and condensers are situated at the stern where the boundary layers are thick. As a consequence, the water close to the hull has a low dynamic pressure, the energy component being essential for producing flow through an intake. In this paper developments in inlet and outlet scoop designs are presented. The analysed boundary layer fences should provide an effective solving problem method.
