Synchronization of body weight cycling and catch-up growth with zinc dose-rate idorrhythm
Idiorrhythmic dose-rate feeding with the essential trace element zinc, a non-energetic nutrient, is a potent and controllable generator of synchronization of a sequential catch-up body growth-cycles in a growing rat. When the major energetic nutrients (proteins, fats, and carbohydrates) are plentifuly in the diet, then the cycling of the body weight is indicative of the deficit and/or imbalance of the non-energetic nutrients such as trace elements. The idiorrhythmic dose-rate model of feeding provides the ground for the development of the rational maultifarous (several days) recommended dietary allowances (mRDA's) of non-energetic nutrients in difference to the current daily based RDA's.
