FIRST INSIGHTS ON WIND PROFILE UP TO 100M IN CROATIA BASED ON MEASUREMENT DATA FROM TWO LOCATIONS

The main objective of this work is to analyse the measurement data from two 100 m mast in Croatia. To the knowledge of the authors, these are the first 100 m measurements in Croatia with data available to any Croatian company or institution. Therefore this is the first opportunity to get an insight on the wind behaviour on heights over 60m, which has been the highest measurement height so far. Both measurement masts are set in the Dalmatian inland near Knin. Measurement campaigns started in December 2010 (north) and January 2011 (south). Rather short winter measurement period already showed interesting results, especially regarding bora wind characteristics. First results suggest that bora wind is less turbulent on higher heights than lower, but also that on one location there is no significant increase in wind speed with height from 75 to 100m. Also, negative wind shear effects were noticed, but only on rather low wind speeds (below 5 m/s) with difference being in average 1, 7 m/s from 100 to 50m. Planned continued measurement should show more conclusive results.
