The State Is Not Dead: Emerging Out of the Crisis by Activating Untapped Economic Potentials and the Case against Intellectual Monopoly
When discussing intellectual property rights it is inevitable to refer to the existing intellectual monopolies that have contributed to a slump in investment opportunities. Where there are multiple patents covering various ideas that go into an innovation, the patent system can become an even bigger impediment to innovation. This is often refered to as a 'patent thicket' that leads to the overpropertisation. Designing a more effective intellectual property regime is a very challenging task ahead of us. This untapped potential could be opened up by the proper state role which is of high priority. If tackled successfully, it could become a new engine of economic growth and development, which would in turn create a more stimulating environment for bussiness enterprise of any sort.
