APROACH TO SMALL MORHOLOGICAL CHANGES IN THYROD GLAND
Morphological and functional changes of the thyroid are very common. The widespread use of thyroid ultrasound has lead to the recognition that about 50 %, or more, of adults have some of diffuse or nodular changes of the thyroid. Ultrasonography is a very useful tool in detecting diffuse and nodular changes of the thyroid and contributes to comprehension of morphological and functional changes of the thyroid gland. Ultrasonography with colour Doppler is very useful in detecting autoimmune thyroid disease and predicting thyroid dysfunction, even in the cases when the thyroid is not enlarged, its function is still preserved, and even only minimal ultrasound signs of disease are present. Minimal morphological changes can predict and prevent illness and cannot be neglected.
