DESIGN OF SMALL AUXETIC SPRINGS FOR OFFICE FURNITURE
The article represents an example of modeling of cellular material stiffness of auxetic properties through changes in its internal structure of the skeleton. The aim of the study was to develop a model of an auxetic compression spring useful in seat constructions of office furniture. Real and numerical models of different structures of concave cell walls which were subjected to uniaxial compression were employed in the performed investigations. Changing the geometry of the internal structure, non-linear stiffness characteristics of the designed springs, negative Poisson’s ratios as well as maximal deflection of the models in the elastic range were determined. On the basis of the results of numerical calculations, it was possible to select constructions which can be most suitable for the seat functionality of furniture intended for work.
