The Iconographic Peculiarities of the Roman Sarcophagi from Northern Croatia
The number of sarcophagi from northern Croatia, featuring peculiar and rich figural iconography, is disproportionally large when compared with the overall number of such monuments, and especially in the wider area od Sisak (Roman Siscia). This suggests that the class of the educated elite was in the 3rd and 4th centuries more numerous than customarily believed.
