Fire resistant silicon alloyed gray cast irons

: Simple gray cast iron has found wide application primarily due to its low production costs. But it doesn’t exhibit resistance to the increased thermal stresses. Therefore, gray cast irons are widely used for manufacture of components exposed to lengthy thermal stresses, such as boiler and furnace burners, and similar. Nowadays, different types of fireproof gray irons are extensively used. This paper gives description of the silicon alloyed gray cast iron.
