Leaf Zn concentrations of grapevine (Vitis vinifera L.) on acid and calcareous soils
Grapevine leaf Zn concentrations and dynamic were studied in 2008 in three vitisol subtypes: Dystric Cambisol (pHKCl 3.76), Stagnosol (pHKCl 4.69) and Rendzic Leptosol (pHKCl 7.27). Significantly higher Zn levels in leaves at the flowering stage were determined on Stagnosol (18.4 mg Zn/kg DM) compared to calcareous soil (13.4 mg Zn/kg DM). In the verasion and harvest stages determined values was reversed - on strongly acidic soil significantly lower Zn levels was obtained (22, 3 mgZn/kg DM and 26.4 mg Zn/kg DM, respectively). Besides the total amount of each element, the quantity and quality of yield is also influenced by the relationship between the elements. Because of the above, the Mn:Zn ratio was investigated as well. In all vegetation phases Mn:Zn ratio was approximately optimum on Rendzic Leptosol unlike acidic soils, where it was an extremely unfavourable.
