Effect of Reduced Soil Tillage on Soybean (Glicyne max L. Merr.) Production in the Horro Alleltu Area, Ethiopia
The subtropical area of Horro Alleltu, Nekemte, the Wollega province, Ethiopia, with predominantly ferralithic (ferralsol) rhodic soils of a very good composition, favourable internal and external drainage, with a large amount of precipitations and favourable temperatures, makes it possible to apply some of the reduced soil tillage treatments in soybean production, such as: subsoiling, deep (10-15 cm) and shallow (5-10 cm) diskharrowing, instead of ploughing. Water erosion is very big problem in the investigated region. The best results of the fertilization were obtained with higher levels of the applied fertilizers. Soil tillage during the vegetation period did not show any yield advantages over omitting of these tillage operations.
