Soil fertility improvment in eastern Croatia
Aimed at improving unfavourable chemical soil properties, as well as sustaining high yielding productivity of pseudogley and lessive soil i Eastern Croatia, several years field trials were established i autumn 1992, including two locations with maize and winter wheat.Fertilisation treatments were:1.unfertilised plots-control, 2.conventional fertilisation(CF)-220 kg N+ 150kg P2O5 + 100 kg K2O/ha, 3.CF+P(250 kg/ha P2O5), 4.CF+10 t/ha calcium carbonate(Ca), 5.CF+40 t/ha farmyard manure(FM), 6.CF+P+FM, 7.CF+Ca+FM, 8.CF+P+Ca, 9.CF+P+Ca+FM. IN 1993-1994.maize grain yield on pseudogley ranged from 5.11(control)to 8.60 t/ha(6).Comparing to the control the yields increased for 3.49t/ha or 68%.In 1994., on lessive soil, the yields varied between 7.63(control)and 100.6t/ha(5)increasing the yield to 2.43t/ha or 32%.In 1995, on lessive soil, the yields of winter wheat were increased from 2.59(control)to 6.15 t/ha or 3.56 t/ha(137%), high-significantly in all cases, for maize and winter wheat. However, regarding the fertilised variants only, there were no statistically justified differences in relation to the conventional fertilisation.
