Association between dental and skeletal maturation stages in Croatian subjects
The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between the stages of calcification of teeth and the cervical vertebral maturity stages of 295 subjects, mean age 13.36 years. Dental age was evaluated from panoramic radiographs, and cervical vertebral maturation was determined on lateral cephalometric radiographs. Only in the first stage of CVS were boys and girl of the same age, in all other stages girls were 0.98 younger than boys. The dental maturation finished earlier in the female subjects. The mineralization pattern of second premolars could be considered as guideline for prediction of the pubertal growth spurt. dental maturation stages might be slinically useful as a reliable indicator of facial growth.
