Postage Stamps in Function of Promotion of Road Traffic
The invention of postage stamps in the first half of the 19th century was aimed at simplifying the way of communication for all participants (sender, operator, receiver) in the complex process of transport of postal shipments. In addition to the securities become the pre-payment for postal services, stamp has subsequently received a number of other functions such as a means to promote national heritage, a marketing tool or item collecting. Road traffic is one of the most popular topic among collectors of stamps. Vehicles, road infrastructure especially road safety are issues that are interest of, not only to stamp collectors and enthusiasts, but also other consumers of road traffic and the general public and especially the youngest ones, who often collect stamps. Rare are the postal administration issued stamps that are not associated with the road and road vehicles. Around 600 different postage stamps were issued in the world on the topic of road traffic in the period since 2002 until 2009 year. Unlike other marketing media, postage stamps through shipments come to all addresses in the world and the first details on the shipment to be noticed is just a stamp. For this reason stamps significantly contribute to the promotion and preservation of contemporary historical development of the forgetful road traffic.
