Constitutional dynamic anion receptors based on carbazole skeleton
New family of constitutionally dynamic anion receptors was synthesised and characterised in which central building block was made of 1, 8- diaminocarbazole or 3, 6-dichloro-1, 8- diaminocarbazole, whereas side arms were made from heteroatomic aldehydes, such as pyrrole-2- carbaldehyde, indole-2-carbaldehyde or imidazole-2-carbaldehyde. Their structures were characterised by 1-D and 2-D NMR and X-ray (receptors with pyrrole side arm). Their anion binding properties were quantitatively studied by 1H NMR titrations. Component exchange between the model receptors was studied under various conditions to find compromise of strong binding (non-competetive solvent, basic anions, etc.) and rapid equilibration (protic solvent, acid catalysis ).
