Sažetak
The Croatian media editions of historical sound recordings from the Vienna Phonogrammarchiv from the first decades of the 20th century is very extensive and important collection of previously nevalorizirana vocal and instrumental music that made Joseph Broad (1882nd to 1963rd), doctor of philosophy, musicologist and musician from Virje (Podravina), between 1913th to 1920th. Grozdana Marosevic is the author of the introductory study J. Siroki and his collection (p. 77 - 80) and comments on some recordings (11 p. On CD-ROM). The texts, extensive holdings were transcribed by Jaksa Primorac, Grozdana Marosevic and Zeljko Petrovic. Jaksa Primorac is authorof references to published sources. J. Broad’s collection is remarkable not only as content but also as the way in which it was made. The largest collection Široki shot in 1913th and 1914. from Phonogrammarchiw in Vienna, and only a small part of the field, at Virje in period since 1917. to 1920. Almost all the examples he recorded in their own performances (of 187 musical examples he was not a contractor was only in 15 examples). In the accompanying documentation (as usual) texts transcriptions of songs was not made, sometimes not set genre, sometimes even the region, which is understandable since there are often songs whose popularity crossed the boundaries of the regions in which they occur. The collection contains hymns and patriotic songs, drinking songs, love songs and humorous examples and instrumental music (performed on different instruments). With the exception of material from Virje, where they represented examples of older rural traditional music, the most part the material is the popular musical repertoire that of 19 century created the urban atmosphere of National Revival in the process. Širokie shot above his close musical repertoire: songs from Vojvodina (educated in Karlowitz) and Eastern Slavonia, gender Podravina and the wider area of central Croatian, while fewer examples from Istria, Kvarner and Dalmatia, as well as examples from other regions of the South Slav area , are limited to those widely known and recorded in the collections. The collection is a valuable document of urban folklore-musik repertoire and direct evidence of the idea of folk music in the early 20th century.
