Postoperative Monitoring of CYFRA21-1 Serum Tumor Marker in NSCLC (The Clinical Evaluation)
The serum level of CYFRA 21-1 tumor marker has been longitudinally followed up in 500 patients 1,4,10, 16 and 20 month after surgery of NSCLC lung cancer. The first month after surgery level of tumor marker CYFRA' 21-1 fell down under the cut off value 3.3 ng/mL in majority of patients (p<0.0001) except in 7 patients. Three months after surgery the mean level tended towards the value of the healthy population in majority of patients (<0.0001). The level of tumor marker CYFRA 21-1 increased from 1 to 3 months before we detected local relapse in some patients and in majority patients with positive level of CYFRA 21-1 before therapy. In this patients increase of CYFRA 21-1 signalised the tumor activity. We can conclude that tumor marker CYFRA 21-1 could be useful in postoperative monitoring of NSCLC, because the increase of its level may be a good way to detect local relapse, before other diagnostic procedures.
