Conceptual model for authority data: FRAD, and its application to old books
The paper first introduces the conceptual model for authority data Functional Requirements for Authority Data – FRAD which is a complementary model to the one for bibliographic data developed by IFLA Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records – FRBR. This part of the paper will focus on entities defined by the model, as well as the tasks users perform in accessing and using authority data. In the second part, the paper describes four categories of relationships, and discusses their application to specific requirements of name authority control for the bibliographic universe related to old books: creation and production – provenance/ownership – use.
