The Philosophy of Person in Dialectics Thought of Nikolai Berdyaev

The text represents author`s exposition of Berdyaev`s philosophical understanding of a person which is based on elementary principles of his anthropology. He begins his inquiry with the discovery of the mystery of person and through the analysis of its origin and dignity he reaches and elaborates central themes. Among those themes we can primarily enumerate problems connected with the relation between the actualization of person and its freedom and the difference between a person and the individual. Subsequently the author gives critical analysis of the position and the role of person in rapport to society and nature. This is followed by exposition of Berdyaev`s original approach to person viewed as a religious category and love viewed as authentic way of resolving the mystery of person. The conclusion brings the critical judgement of the compatibility of Berdyaev`s doctrine with the classical metaphysical doctrine on person and its contribution to the same.
