Media in teaching: pedagogical-musicological aspects
The introduction of modern teaching technology in the teaching process is radically changing the organization and carrying out of educational work. Nowadays media have the role of the basic component in teaching that speeds up the process of acquiring knowledge. Multimedia has a special role in music education that enables simultaneous use of different ways of communication: audio and video recording, text, and graphics. Given this role, this paper emphasizes the value of modern technology in the teaching process and explains the possibility of its application through correlation of the school subjects Didactics in Music Teaching, History of Music and Introduction to Music Literature. In this context, visual, auditory, audio-visual and multimedia resources and aids are elaborated. They are used in teaching in order to contribute to its effectiveness. An empirical research was conducted in order to determine whether multimedia is used at institutions of higher education and whether its use is purposeful. The results suggest that music students perceive the use of multimedia in teaching as very useful, because it ensures a better knowledge and understanding of the matter. They also indicate that multimedia should be more used, both by teachers and by students.
