Influence of combined microbiological preparation on intensity of infection by Rhizoctonia solani and elements of sugar beet yield and quality
The experiment was set up on two types of the soil: Mollic Gleysols (FAO, 1998) and Eutric Cambisols where presence of pathogenic fungi – sugar beet root decay agent – Rhizoctonia solani has been detected since 2005. In a two years study (2008, 2009), the experiment was set up by completely randomized block design in 4 repetitions and 16 different variants: A) hybrid (A1 – Belinda, sensitive to pathogenic fungi R. solani ; A2 - Laetitia, tolerant to pathogenic fungi R. solani) ; B) application of microbiological preparation BactoFil (B1 - control ; B2 - 1/3 in autumn + 2/3 in spring ; B3 - 1/2 in autumn + 1/2 in spring ; B4 - 2/3 in autumn + 1/3 in spring) ; C) nitrogen fertilization (C1 – based on the results of soil analysis ; C2 – reduced by 30%). The following parameters were tested: percentage of infected and decayed plants, root yield, sugar content, sugar in molasses and sugar yield. The best results were obtained by applying microbiological preparation BactoFil, and by reduced nitrogen fertilization. Preparation dosage and time of application depended on soil properties. On Mollic Gleysols the best results in all tested parameters were obtained in variant B2 - C2, and on Eutric Cambisols in the variant B4 - C2.
