Central Somatosenzory Integration

The frequency band accepted by the skin is overloaded with information because it lacks the central mechanisms, that exist in the hearing system, which clean and structure the signal. The peripheral entrance is the same for those who are able to speak and for those who are not. However, some achieve success easily while others do so with difficulty, which clearly indicates the decisive role played by central structures. Central integration mechanisms of the spatial perception system, spatioception, are touch, proprioception, the vestibular system, hearing and sight. They are linked by mechanoreception, bilaterality and the primary function of space perception, and they connect and integrate in the central pathways and the spatioception cortex. Spatioception creates ideas and images (concepts) in a multisensory way, and leads us to though and speech. As it develops, a child connects the tactile and proprioceptive atlas with the hearing and visual one, the main integration being the vestibular system. Each sensory data becomes part of the system aspiring to entirety. Guberina's speech linguistics includes rhythm, tone, intonation, intensity, tense, pause, tempo, as well as mimics, gesture, posture and body position, proxemics, topography and mise-en-scene. The acoustic perceptior, either hearing or somatosensorics, is not sufficient for all this, entire spatioception is needed. In the SUVAG Polyclinis for the Rehabilitation of Hearing and Speech we use three stages: 1. Only the somatosensory pathway, after it is established that the cochlear and vestibulo-cochlear pathways are weaker than the somatosensory one and that speech quality is very bad. The vibration board, SUVAG 1 equipment with a vibrator, is used mainly in the right hand. The name commonly used for this phase is the vibrotactile rehabilitation phase. It is necessary in the first stage of rehabilitation and in the first stage of rehabilitation and in the periods when hearing and speech qualities deteriorate. 2. The vestibulo-cochlear pathway with earphones is added to the somatosensory pathway, which jointly affect hearing, the vestibule sense, the tactile and proprioceptive sense. 3. After success was achieved, we pass to the third phase in which the somatosensory pathway is gradually abandoned and the rehabilitant is accustomed to listening with the vestibulo-cochlear pathway. Spatioception is a unique and integral system, deafness is not rehabilitated through the sense of hearing, but through the system for spatial perception. The multisensory viewpoint is one of the main contributions of the verbotonal method.
