MAJOR STRUCTURES IN CROATIA AND PROJECTS FOR THE FUTURE
Croatia has a long-standing tradition and a rich heritage in structural engineering – from Roman aqueducts to record breaking spans of modern days. As hosts of an international Conference on codes in structural engineering, we would like to present the important Croatian structural achievement. This paper contains a selection of some major structures built in Croatia, but also some projects for the future. Significant Croatian arch bridges from Roman times to contemporary structures are described. Moreover, sporting halls recently constructed for the occasion of the 21st men’s world handball championship are presented. Additionally, projects of few bridges and an airport, some of them just started and some of them planned for the near future, are described.
