Non-linear 1D viscoelastic model for load-rate sensitivity
It is assumed that the strain-rate sensitivity is not a material property but comes out naturally from dynamic equilibrium equations. The material is assumed non-linear (according to the microplane material model) and viscoelastic arranged into Kelvin scheme with an optional mass between bars. The scheme is the simplest possible for description of a quasi-brittle viscous bar under uniaxial tension (more complicated Maxwell bars are considered in our previous paper). Loading is uniaxial tension with changing intensity in time, asymptotic or harmonic. The resulting differential equations are non-linear and stiff.
