DETERMINATION OF INFLUENCE OF MEDIA ON PIPE WALL LOSS DEFECT DETECTABILITY USING CR SYSTEM
Great dynamic range of imaging plates is an advantage of computed radiography pipe testing compared to conventional radiographic testing. Detectability of wall loss defects is primarily determined by minimal defect contrast threshold when using double wall - double image radiographic technique. Presence of fluids inside the pipes under inspection affects the contrast, and therefore detectability of the defects. Paper analyses the influence of fluid presence in the pipe on the dectability of pipe wall loss defects by contrast quantification for different radiography tests conditions. Also the ability of computed radiography system for detection of pipe wall loss defects in presence of water inside the pipes is observed.
