Influence of Temperature and Current on Hydrogen Evolution during Cathodic Polarisation of Al-Ga Alloys
The yield of hydogen formed during cathodic polarization of five Al-Ga binary alloys in neutral salt solutions was measured volumetrically as a function of current density, temperature and gallium content in the alloy. Al-Ga alloys had been prepared from super pure (99.99%) Al base. The yield of hydrogen was established to be about 2 at all current densities and at low temperatures, while with increasing temperature it approached the value of 4. With the increase of gallium content in the alloy, the yield of hydrogen decreases.
